I’m delighted to announce that my second short film, The Betrayal, will have its premiere on Irish national TV on Monday, 25 September 2017.

The film is a 26-min drama exploring themes of sexual identity, female friendship and domestic violence. It premiered last year at the prestigious GAZE International LGBT Film Festival in Dublin. Film Ireland wrote in its review:

Strong performances from the two female leads and solid work from the two directors shows an assured confidence from the cast and crew toward the project. Being a little on the long side of short allows time for the narrative’s more dramatic elements to be drawn out to a more satisfying degree and the pace is aided by a surprisingly robust soundtrack.

The Betrayal features music by:

  • Nick Cave & Warren Ellis (Martha’s Dream)
  • multi-award-winning Northern Irish artist Ryan Vail (from his debut album For Every Silence, which became BBC radio 1 Album of the week, Irish times Album of the week, finally nominated for the 2016 Ni Music prize (Best Northern Irish Album of 2016)
  • Irish alternative duo OCHO and British composer Andy Gillion
  • and finally, Conor Walsh, to whom the film is dedicated.

The film was shot by a predominantly female team, with yours truly wearing multiple hats as the writer, co-director (with IFTA-nominated Natasha Waugh), lead producer and actress. Tune in on Monday, September 25th, to RTÉ 2 (Shortscreen) to check it out.

Not based in Ireland? Rent or buy it on VOD! Thanks to Distrify, the film is now available globally.
